More Than a Cycle
Hagerstown, MD to Marietta, GA. 1,115 kilometres. 19 days. One team. One vision.
A journey of faith, endurance, and hope
In summer 2026, a team of riders, families, and supporters set out on the road from Hagerstown, Maryland, with a single shared conviction: that cycling 1,115 kilometres through heat, hills, and rain could help build something lasting for young people in Senegal.
Day by day, mile by mile, the team rode south through Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and into Georgia — cheered on by churches, hosted by generous families, and fuelled by a cause bigger than any one of them. Along the way, they stopped at churches, shared meals that stretched across cultures, and welcomed riders who joined for a day or a leg of the journey.
The ride wasn't just about the miles. It was about showing up — for the people of Senegal, for Yakaar, for the vision of a pitch that will serve children and communities for generations. Every pedal stroke brought the Yakaar Football Centre one step closer to reality.
On the final day, the team rode into Marietta, Georgia, to cheers, certificates, and the kind of joy that only shared effort produces. The ride is done. The story continues.

The team gathered with the Cycle for Hope support van and trailer — a familiar sight on every leg of the route.
Certificates, smiles, and celebration
At the end of the ride, every rider received a Certificate of Completion — a small acknowledgement of a very big achievement.

The team celebrates at a rest day stop — bikes in the air, spirits high.

A rest day stop at Falls Park, Greenville, SC — one of many memorable moments off the bike.
Churches, communities, and connection
The route took the team through small towns, past historic churches, and into the homes of people who opened their doors, their kitchens, and their communities. It was hospitality at its finest — and a reminder of what it means to ride for something greater.

Host families along the route provided food, shelter, and warmth — without them, the ride wouldn't have been possible.
